2011 : My Year In Review

4:57 PM

Oh 2011, you were absolutely jam packed with work, craziness, shock, and awe. Where to begin!?

In mid January I actually had a whole entire weekend off, so the beard and I scooted up to Niagara Falls on a whim. We pulled in around 2am, got our hotel then went to the casino! Ross was playing blackjack while I was playing a penny slot machine nearby. Next thing you know, DING DING DING! I won $300 with pennies! Then next day I had my very first Tim Horton's breakfast. To die for. I am very jealous of all the regions that get to enjoy this place on a regular basis. After that we checked out the falls in 3 degree temperatures. It was sunny, but boy was it cold!
"Hey, don't go chasing those."
HOW could I forget?! I LEARNED HOW TO DRIVE AND GOT MY LICENSE ON THE FIRST TRY!

Some really great things happened in February. I got a LensBaby with my winnings from Niagara Falls, did a collaborative film, O CAÇADOR, with Kristin, Paris, Kyna, and Oscar, had my first photoshoot with Taylor and the LensBaby in a nightclub, and did photos for some very lovely ladies who were preparing to start their blog, Ain't That The Berries! I also helped out shooting and directing a music video, "I'm Staying" for Jade Lundgren with our budding cinema business, ShoFilms.
Busy, busy, busy!

March had some more fun times! I did another little fashion film, Jupe En Dentelle, with Kristin and styled by Sam inside a super cute cafe in the South Side called Zennith. I sewed up an outfit for Andrea to model for an assignment in my advertising class. Andrea and I started crafting BIG time for a photoshoot that was to happen in June of her adorable neice. Ross, my favorite beard, celebrated his 29th birthday by playing a benefit hockey game for MDA.
Dunkin Donuts makes up for the lack of Tim Horton's in Pittsburgh.

April was a bit of a slower month, but I had my first nice weather photoshoot of the year with Megan, followed by a photoshoot in the studio with Kait, then a fun shoot with Patrick. All three of these shoots produced images for my portfolio! I had a nice Easter and a nice Easter mojito with the family, and Butters sat on my lap for goldfish crackers.
I love April because of the flowers!

Wow, was May great and busy! I got a glimpse of an old office space turining into the ShoFilms studio. Butters decided that the fan would make a good place to sit. I had THE most epic photoshoot of the year: I drove up to Lake Erie where Kyna and I made a dress on the spot for model Andria to wear. We both got some amazing portfolio shots. Next up I had shoots with Rachel and Alex, followed by a mini lookbook for CrazyHotClothes with Nicole, Courtney, and Mike. Again, I got images from each shoot for my portfolio! I also starting doing a ton of diptychs.
Epic!

On to June! I was overjoyed to photograph Christy & Christian's engagement session before they moved away to Florida. I finally got to photograph baby Ads with the props that Andrea and I started crafting back in March, and the most exciting thing, we at ShoFilms captured our very first cinematic wedding of Sarah + Jake, and the studio was finished! I did a bunch of work on lookbooks for CrazyHotClothes. I also celebrated my 23rd birthday!
June was awesome!

July was an exciting month. I began stressing out about graduation even more, got myself an iPad, taught myself how to poach an egg, and I began working on my thesis project. I designed and sewed 2 of 5 dresses so far for the project, Andrea and Kyna modeled for me.
Photos with Kyna always result in tears of laughter. :)

August was full of dress making and photo taking with Taylor,  Jaquie, Heidi, and Courtney. I wrapped up designing my thesis book. I also took some time to peruse the South Side works with Kyna and Andria to have some delicious gelato. Also, lots more stressing about graduation.
That gelato was amazing!

September: Graduation Month! I finished up my portfolio, made promo lip balms with my logo stickers, made 5 million cakepops with the help of Andrea for the portfolio review, and SOMEHOW made it to the show and set up everything and didn't forget one thing. I won best in show and Ross gave me a pretty citrine graduation ring. Oh, and McDonald's forgot to put a patty on Andrea's cheeseburger. haha. That was a crucial moment of September. Also, one of the weddings we filmed ended up in my top 3 favorites of the year, Andria + Stephen. Gorgeous. Stunning. Perfect.

Such a busy month!

October! October is kind of a blur, I started my dream internship with ModCloth! I went to a real life tea party with Theresa and Andrea, did another photoshoot for the blog gals of ATTB, and met a very friendly great dane.
Tea parties are amazing!

November was another blur doing all kinds of cute photos at work. I found a bunch of art supplies in my nightstand at home, and my dad deep fried a turkey. I had some amazing thrifty hauls, got a receipt on 11/11/11 for $11.11 one minute away from 11:11 at 7Eleven. Ha! I also tried a Brazilian kiwi drink called a Caipirinha!
Best way to cook a turkey.

December was the month of baking. I helped Andrea make some cupcakes for a bakesale, and of course the tons of cookies I made for Christmas. I tried making macaroons, and made some more fun cupcakes on my own. I got some of my favorite shots of prep while filming a wedding yet. I watched Edward Scissorhands again, and wished I lived in a town that looks the same. I made my most perfect circle in a square granny square ever and painted my nails red for the first time. Ross and I spoiled Butters with new toys and a special treat mix. I had a great Christmas with friends and family, and had sushi on Christmas eve. We had a very cold apartment for a few days, and I was able to share some photos of Ernesta from a magazine shoot back in September. I also got a funny coffee mug that looks just like a camera lens from our friends.
A very fun month.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! READY, SET, 2012!
